Cure your ‘Case of the Mondays’ with warbler watching at Jackson Park, one of the best fall migration hotspots in the region.
Jackson Park in Hendersonville is easily one of the best fall birding spots in all of WNC. Nearly every migrating songbird in the east has been recorded here, with as many as 23 warblers recorded in a single day! Seldom seen on migration in this area, both Connecticut and Mourning Warblers, have been found in this park, as well as Blackburnian, Cape May, Northern Parula, Black-throated Blue, Northern Waterthrush -- the list goes on and on!
In January, many of these birds are on their wintering grounds in the tropics, so they are replaced by sparrows, kinglets and waterfowl. Winter Wrens, Hermit Thrushes and Brown Creepers skulk in the leafless woodlands and we may be lucky to find some winter finches, as well as Red-breasted Nuthatch, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and more.
Join us for one of the most enjoyable birding experiences in Western North Carolina -- Jackson Park during the winter months.
