Pam Ford

Pam currently resides in Charleston County and has been birding for about 13 years. After her children left for college, her empty nest syndrome kicked in and her “spark”, a Red-headed Woodpecker, came to her feeder, launching her into a passionate journey of birding in Charleston, South Carolina. Pam focused on coastal South Carolina and has broadened her South Carolina birding to the Piedmont and Upstate, and now birds all across the state, being familiar with birds and habitats from the mountains to the sea.

Pam’s ABA list is approaching 600, and she now has expanded her traveling to Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, Michigan, Texas, Louisiana, Ohio, and all points in between! She is a member of the Carolina Bird Club and several national birding organizations (Audubon and ABA). She volunteers her time as a guide for South Carolina DNR, co-leading monthly trips with Craig Watson at Botany Bay WMA on Edisto Island, SC. Her personality lends itself to entertaining birders, being highly valuable to leading tours and trips around the country. Pam and Craig currently lead trips for the Carolina Bird Club Regional meetings, The Biggest Week in American Birding Festival (Lake Erie/Magee Marsh, Ohio), and the North Shore Birding Festival (Lake Apopka/Orlando, FL).
